Any US employer filing an H-1B1 has to write a wage onto the LCA and send it to the Department of Labor, where it becomes public record. This site is built on 8,769 certified filings from 2,828 employers, and the wage column is right there.
One caveat that changes how you should read every number below: employers file the bottom of a wage range, the “from” figure. It’s a floor they commit to, not a paycheck. Bonus, equity and any raise since are invisible here.
The overall picture
The median across all certified filings is $149,000. Volume has crept up rather than exploded: 1,052 filings in 2020, 1,432 in 2025, and 712 already logged in the first half of 2026. That median covers first-year analysts and people running teams alike, so treat it as an anchor, not a target.
Median wage by role
| Role | Filings | Median wage | Range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Senior Software Engineer | 84 | $183,136 | $106,080 - $375,000 |
| Data Scientist | 45 | $163,350 | $81,536 - $255,629 |
| Software Engineer | 688 | $161,819 | $57,262 - $372,000 |
| Software Development Engineer II | 184 | $160,600 | $98,904 - $218,100 |
| Consultant | 52 | $158,500 | $40,664 - $200,000 |
| Associate | 194 | $147,500 | $55,500 - $400,000 |
| Product Manager | 65 | $146,494 | $73,466 - $307,197 |
| Software Development Engineer I | 44 | $141,850 | $101,421 - $158,800 |
| Senior Associate | 49 | $129,000 | $64,600 - $250,000 |
| Analyst | 102 | $90,000 | $57,500 - $185,000 |
Software Engineer dominates at 688 filings, close to 8% of the dataset, across 148 employers. Adding “Senior” to the front of that title is worth about $21K at the median. The $90,000 Analyst row looks alarming until you notice these are mostly first-year banking and consulting analysts.
Why the ranges are so wide
Associate runs from $55,500 to $400,000 under one job title. Some of that spread is real and some of it is the data being messy.
The real part is location and level. The same title clears a very different prevailing wage in the Bay Area than in the Midwest: California medians $141,249 across 3,156 filings, Illinois $97,000. Many companies also run one public title across several internal levels.
The messy part is that job titles on LCAs are free text. “Associate” gets used by law firms, banks and consultancies for completely different work, and the occupation code attached to it here is Lawyers. Medians on small role counts deserve the same suspicion.
Which employers pay the most
From the top employer breakdown, Amazon has filed the most at 70, with a $149,240 median that lands on the overall middle. Meta is second on volume at 56 but far higher on pay at $210,789. Google medians $188,500 across 16 filings, Anthropic $187,574 across 19, and Apple $174,285 across 22. The highest median among frequent filers is Temasek International’s US arm at $221,400, on just 13 filings.
Volume and pay are not the same ranking. Ernst & Young sits fourth on filings with 20 and near the bottom on wage at $121,375. Amazon’s real footprint is larger than 70 too, since it files through several legal entities the data counts separately.
Using this in a negotiation
These are wages an employer put in writing to a federal agency, which beats a salary survey, as long as you remember you’re reading a floor. If a company’s filed wage for your title sits well above your offer, raise it. If it sits below, check the date and worksite first. Look up the company or the role you’re weighing up.
Figures come from certified H-1B1 Singapore LCA applications filed with the US Department of Labor, annualized where the employer filed hourly. They reflect filed wage commitments, not confirmed hires, current openings, or total compensation.
